Questions about billing //
What billing or insurance information will I receive?
At your first visit, we will advise you of any co-pays or deductibles you may be responsible for. Upon receiving the EOB (Explanation of benefits) from the insurance company, you will receive notification of the amount owed, which is determined by the insurance company.
What should I do if my insurance company is not on your list?
If you have a lesser known insurance company we may still be able to see you. It would just be a matter of contacting your insurance company to verify coverage. Feel free to contact our office and we would be more than happy to check on this for you.
How long will it take to get things settled with the insurance company?
With most HMO and PPO plans it takes approximately 2 weeks. Medicare claims are approximately 2-3 weeks. Workman’s Compensation Claims and Auto Claims may take anywhere from 45-60 days.
Why am I getting bills from the physical therapy office?
After the insurance company has made a payment on your behalf, you will be billed for any remaining deductible, co-insurance or co-pays which are determined by your specific policy.
I received a notice that my insurance company paid on my bill, but I can’t understand how they calculated their payment. Do you know?
The insurance policy you chose or your employer provides may differ in the amounts of others. Each policy has its own fee schedule. Some policies cover 70-90% and then you are responsible for the remaining balance. All payments are based on percentages of their “allowed” fee schedule, not on our total billing. Sometimes you are only responsible for a co-pay which may vary anywhere from $10 to $45 per visit. Many plans have deductibles that must be met prior to the plan making a payment on your behalf.
