-Jeffrey S. Peterson | MPT
Physical Therapist / Owner
My passion for health and fitness began in Junior High School and has continued to the present. I love teaching individuals how to recover and how to better themselves.
I opened Focus Physical Therapy 9 years after graduating from Slippery Rock University, School of Physical Therapy in 1992. Since 2001, I have evaluated and treated well over 4,000 new patients. I am proud to say we experience a high success rate regarding patient recovery and perhaps our greatest testimony is that we welcome back a high number of return patients. I am the only Physical Therapist at our practice. My Physical Therapist Assistant and I do not separate the patient schedule. We work together to assure the best treatment plan is being carried out each visit. We enjoy getting to know our patients on a personal level and do everything we can to make a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. If there is one thing that I have learned in 20+ yrs. of practice, it is that I still enjoy aiding in a patient’s recovery. It’s quite fulfilling to initially meet someone on crutches etc. and then be able to send them back to their sport, job or other desired activity when their rehabilitation is complete. We are focused on function!
Prior to opening Focus, I was aware of some PT practices placing a high priority on how much revenue each patient visit was generating. The dollar amount seemed to be more important than the patients themselves. I wanted the focus to be on the patient and their outcome rather than the amount to be billed. Subsequently, we place a greater emphasis on exercise and manual or “hands on” therapy to accomplish patient goals, as opposed to rendering excessive different treatments that may or may not be justified. We are focused on efficiency!
We are a Direct Access facility, meaning that we are authorized by state law to evaluate and treat you for up to 30 days without a physician referral. We have held this authorization since October 2004. However, if Medicare is your primary insurance or if your injury is the result of an auto accident or work injury, a physician’s prescription is still necessary.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding your potential participation in physical therapy with us, please do not hesitate to contact our office and we will do our best to provide you with all appropriate information.
